Norma lost her husband and Henry lost his wife. Through the marvels of modern day technology (JDate.com), Norma and Henry found love again. Their sweet intimate ceremony at the Temescal Beach House in Oakland was heartfelt, full of laughter, and focused on the love these two have for each other while honoring the love they had for their previous spouses. They were married under a quilted Chuppah made from Norma’s late husband’s clothing and Henry’s late wife’s jewelry. There was joy and tears, and a sense that not only was the day a celebration of love, but a healing of broken hearts.

2017 was a strange year. The overall level of uncertainty seemed unusually high. There were fires and floods in California, and wacky politics everywhere. As crazy as last year felt, when I look back at the people I worked with and the way they gracefully danced with uncertainty, I feel nothing but love. After many years of shooting weddings and working with couples and their friends and families, I am still stoked about what I do. Here are 100 images from last year.
Jessica and Ethan live about 4 blocks from my house. It was such a pleasure working with them, meeting their delightful families, and being a part of their day of love. They laid down carpets borrowed from friends for the ceremony in the Redwoods. The taco bar dinner was killer. Jessica’s mom made the carrot wedding cake. So much to love about this wedding.
