2017 was a strange year. The overall level of uncertainty seemed unusually high. There were fires and floods in California, and wacky politics everywhere. As crazy as last year felt, when I look back at the people I worked with and the way they gracefully danced with uncertainty, I feel nothing but love. After many years of shooting weddings and working with couples and their friends and families, I am still stoked about what I do. Here are 100 images from last year.

The Pelican Inn is one of those places that is steeped in nostalgic memories. Many years ago I went on an all day adventure with a friend. We were on my motorcycle, and did not end up heading home until after dark. The fog was thick as we rode home from Stinson Beach, and we were unprepared for the cold damp ride. We stopped at the Pelican Inn and warmed ourselves by the fire, soaking up the smell of good food, burning candles, and wood fire before riding the rest of the way home. It is no surprise that people feel a connection with this charming place. Sierra and Michael are just about the sweetest and most good natured people around. Their wedding day at the Pelican Inn was kissed with joy.
Life is an adventure. Last year was full of them. I had friends die, was introduced to new babies fresh to the world, and went on journeys that I entered into with trepidation and left feeling excited and renewed. In my personal life and in my professional life, I tried and continue to try to be better than I was before, to focus on the stuff that counts, to be open to new things, and to get sh** done. To share food with strangers, laughter, and being surrounded by joy is a true gift. Thank you to all the people who choose to have me join them on their days of celebration. Here are 100 images from last year. Most are wedding images and a few are family portrait images. May you enjoy your days, laugh often, and eat yummy food.
